Write With An Entrancing Tongue

Wondering why you’re in this writing business? Do you want to pursue something more simple, like mountain climbing, bungee jumping, or learning Russian? I know I do. Almost every day.

But, on the other hand, I wouldn’t change a minute of the years I’ve spent in this crazy writing life. I also wouldn’t trade any of the friends I made who were as crazy as me for sticking with him all this time.

We all do what we want to do. We will find a way if we really want to write.

Are you writing to make a lot of money? Or, become famous and appear on Oprah? Or do you just want to write the best books and stories you can so that others will enjoy reading your words?

Do the last one first, maybe the first two will follow, but even if you don’t, you’ve done something that most people don’t. He has achieved a good job himself.

Many talents go into making a good book. Some are easier to learn than others. One thing is true. We are either creative or not. No one can learn that. But we can learn to sharpen our skills. One of the most difficult aspects of writing is knowing when to find our voice.

Writers are like musicians, they have a unique voice. The problem is finding and developing that language. Like musicians we need to practice, learn our craft, find our passion, before we can begin to develop that voice.

Do you know why poets often make good story writers? Because they are like singers, they have developed a voice. Learn to sing to your audience, capture them, impress them, and don’t let go until your “singing” is over.

No one can teach you how to write, but you can learn how to find and understand what you can find, and when you find it, you can build on it.

Your author’s voice begins in your heart, mind, and soul. Your ideas about the world around you come from the lullabies your mother sang, the words your father spoke, the way your family expressed love, from joy, from hatred and from anger. It comes from yourself what you like, what you don’t like, what you are passionate about. From all this you can develop a unique voice.

Let’s say you’ve created multi-faceted and emotional content, and you’ve written the best book, story, or article you could ever write. It’s all there: new formats, new stories, a sense of place, conflict, focus, speed. The story is original, well laid out, with interesting subplots and twists. Surprises and symptoms go hand in hand.

You’ve developed a rhythm, set a voice. The characters and stories keep the reader entertained and have time to relax and think about what has happened and what will happen. You have studied and practiced the sight until you are dry.

You’ve all read the master, Dwight Swain’s Principles of Marketing, of course, so you know when and how to put a corpse on the roof.

So why don’t people buy your work? Why do you keep getting rejected? Or – worse, you broke through the barriers, found a publisher and your book just languished on the shelf. So why aren’t your products selling the way they should?

Maybe you haven’t developed your own language. A unique language. You don’t even speak a persuasive tongue. You have yet to learn what makes your speech so amazing and how you speak, which is unique to you.

Maybe I can help you solve your problem. Before you start working on your own language read and try to understand the language in the work of other writers. Some are famous because they have an interesting story. It’s not like they’re great writers. But the biggest followers are those who have a unique language that engages the reader with important information. Read to understand the voice of those writers who move you.

To start developing your own voice, first think about what you are writing about. What do you want to write, why do you write? When you sit down to write, do you experience a sense of dread?

If you can answer yes to those questions, you are probably in the right position to develop your voice.

If the answer to these questions is no, if you are afraid to go to that place where you write, you have to do it, if you are confused, if you do not know your language, here are some things you can. work.

A. Rewrite passages from other books as you write them. Change it up, don’t be afraid to be creative, write things you might not normally write. They say today, go to the side. Be brave. Write what you’ve always wanted to write, but didn’t have the courage to. This takes a lot of practice.

B. Read something you have written on a tape recorder, then go to a quiet place at your workplace, sit in the dark with your eyes closed and your mind open and listen to the sound of your voice Oh, I know, isn’t that awesome? But try to listen to the rhythm, the music your words are singing.

Consider the dynamics of your reading language to understand the message. They listen again and try to think of where to change the speed, pitch, rhythm, use a stronger verb, or reduce an adjective or adverb.

This is not editing, but editing the music, if you will. Using the diaphragm of your printer.

C. Now, instead of reading the passage, turn on your recording again, this time pretending that you are speaking to an audience around a campfire. Let it make sense. Speak your language. Don’t look at what you wrote. Include some information to help, off the top of your head. Oral composition. Then listen to the tape and write your speech the way you said it, not the way you originally wrote it. Do this and you will have a voice that is unique to you. You write with an engaging tongue.
